Rubbish removal in East Killara
East Killara is nearly all houses, beside Garigal National Park and under Ku-ring-gai Council. When one of them is renovated, we take the rubbish away in loads booked around your trades, each at a price you agree before we start.
Ku-ring-gai's rules next to Davidson's
A kitchen comes out of an East Killara house the same way it comes out of a Davidson one, but the two councils collect differently. Davidson is Northern Beaches Council; East Killara is Ku-ring-gai Council. Here is where that changes your plan.

An East Killara renovation, load by load
We clear a renovation in three loads, each booked around your trades. Some of the first load can go on a council cleanup if the dates line up. Almost none of the second or third can.

1 Before the trades

Furniture, beds, the old lounge, boxed contents you've decided against keeping.
A cleanup booking Can take furniture, mattresses and a TV, if a collection date falls before the start date. Nothing goes on the kerb until the night before.
Us Anything that can't wait for a date, won't fit the 3 cubic metres, or is too heavy to get to the kerb yourself.

Cabinets and benchtops, the vanity, the bath or shower screen, tiles, carpet and deck boards.
A cleanup booking Rolled carpet only. Everything else from a kitchen or bathroom is on the council's excluded list.
Us The rest of it, on the day it comes out, so it isn't filling the garage while the installer works. Getting it off the wall is a separate question, so ask us about that.

Using your cleanup bookings, then calling us
Four bookings a year is generous, and on a renovation it pays to use one. Put the mattresses, the old armchair, the TV and a rolled carpet out for the council, and keep the cabinets, tiles and benchtop inside for us. Then our quote covers only what the council won't touch.
- Book early: the pile goes out only the night before collection
- Keep it within 3 cubic metres, about three metres long, one wide and one high
- Leave the footpath clear, with mattresses, metal and e-waste set apart
- Keep renovation waste off the pile, or the council leaves it behind
If the booking date lands after your trades start, the rooms can't wait for it. That's when we take the first load too.
A skip or a crew on an East Killara street
On a house block the skip usually goes on the drive, because Ku-ring-gai won't approve one on the nature strip or road if it fits on your property. The application asks you to certify there's no room, and it has to come with a public liability policy that names the council. Street trees count too: a skip generally isn't allowed under one where its roots could be damaged.

Test old sheeting before it comes out
Asbestos was common in building materials until 1990, so the NSW EPA expects a house built before then to have some. Eaves linings, the sheeting behind old tiles and vinyl flooring are the usual places a renovation disturbs. Get a sample tested before work starts. For furniture, mattresses, whitegoods and e-waste, yes, as long as a collection date suits your trades. Tell us what's going to the council and we'll quote on what's left.
Will the council take our old bathroom if we book a cleanup?
No. Ku-ring-gai excludes every part of a kitchen or bathroom renovation from its cleanup, from the vanity and toilet to the tiles and wall sheeting. That load comes to us, or goes in a skip.
Can you load from the back of the block or under the house?
Yes. Tell us where the load sits and how we get it out: the side path, steps down the garden, or an under-house door. The carry is part of the price we agree, so it isn't added on the day.
Our garden backs onto the bush. Do you take garden waste?
Yes, including the leaf litter, grass clippings and bagged cuttings that Ku-ring-gai's bulk green waste booking won't collect. Its booking suits cut branches between 60 centimetres and 1.2 metres long, no thicker than 15 centimetres.
How do you price a job?
By the load: how much there is, what it's made of, and how far it's carried to the truck. We look first, give you one figure, and that's the figure you pay unless you add to the job, and then we agree the new figure before we carry on.
